Otley Courthouse launches Digital Drawing competition as part of Get Creative Family Arts Festival

Otley Courthouse is for the first time part of the national Get Creative Family Arts Festival! As part of this, Otley Courthouse will be holding an open competition for digital artists and illustrators of all ages and abilities.

With a specific focus on drawing and painting, digital artists are invited to enter up to 3 original works of digital art created using smartphones, tablets or computers. We are looking for work that explores traditional and contemporary drawing techniques as well as exploits the versatility of new media technology.

Any artist may submit and there will be an under 16 section for younger contributors.  There will be two entry categories “The people's choice” and “The artist’s choice”, with the winning entries having their digital drawing professionally printed and framed, courtesy of “Artworks Framing” & “Square Studios”.

The climax of the event will be a Digital Art Open Prize Giving & Drawing Festival Showcase on Saturday 28th November which will include an exhibition of all work produced throughout the festival.

Full details on how to enter this competition are available on the Courthouse website: otleycourthouse.org.uk/home/digital-open-art-competition/

This competition is part of a month long Family Arts festival at Otley Courthouse which also includes “The Great Otley Drawing Bee”, a range of activities and live demonstrations designed to get everyone involved in art, and communal art piece for everyone to draw on as part of an exhibition.

“We are thrilled to be part of this month long event” said Rachael Savage, Centre Manager at Otley Courthouse.  “Promoting art and encouraging more people young and old to get involved in a wide range of artistic activities, is key to what we do and we hope as many local people as possible will come along and get involved.  We could not have done this event without the help from Leeds Inspired, who have committed to helping us make this happen, and we hope that this is the first of many arts festivals at Otley Courthouse”.

All Festival activities at Otley Courthouse are only £5. See what's on here.
